SpongeBob Squarepants joins the growing number of cartoon characters endorsing President Obama for re-election. Earlier this summer, Heckle and Jeckle threw their support behind the incumbent. SpongeBob's pals--Plankton, Mr. Krabs, and Squidward Tentacles--also pledged to campaign for Obama.
"Wow! SpongeBob joins Team Barack. Makes being President worthwhile," Mr. Obama told the assembled dignitaries on the White House lawn. "The support of the animated community means a lot, and they're much easier to deal with than Barbra Streisand."
First Lady Michelle Obama and Posh Spice's husband joined the President for today's historic announcement.
